Shaibu, Obaseki’s ex-Adviser dump PDP

The national Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Abdullahi Ganduje has welcome the deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr Philip Shaibu into APC along with Chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the State.

Shaibu who was recently reinstated as the State deputy Governor, following a Federal High Court judgement, following his impeachment by the State House of Assembly defected from the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) on Saturday in Benin City.

Charles Idahosa, former Political Adviser to the Governor of the State, Mr Godwin Obaseki and PDP leaders known as Legacy PDP members, including Monday Ihama and Nosa Adams were among the politicians who thrown their weight behind the proverbial ‘broom revolution’ to end the PDP rule in the State.

Idahosa, from Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the State, contributed to the re-election of Obaseki in September 19, 2020 poll.

The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the State Chairman of APC, Edo State Chapter, Mr
Jarrett Tenebe are among the leaders that received the defectors at the event that was held outside the party Secretariat in the State.

Insp Onuh Akoh, a personnel of No. 45 Police Mobile Force Abuja, was brought down by gunshots by suspected political thugs who attacked Okpebholo’s convoy on Thursday July 18th 2024 near exit gate of Benin Airport in Benin City.

At the pen ultimate week, the Director-General of Ighodalo/Ogie PDP Campaign Management Council, Mr Matthew Iduoriyekemwen has predicted mass resignation of aggrieved party members led by Dan Orbih, a staunch loyalist to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike.

He boasted that beyond the optics and the sense of conspiracy against Ighodalo’s Candidacy, Iduoriyekemwen assured that the imminent exodus of Orbih’s supporters from PDP, will not dither Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie joint victory in the forthcoming election.

Expressing sense of fulfillment after his defection, Shaibu wrote on his verification Facebook page on Saturday that: “It is a triumphant homecoming for me, as I officially return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party where I am accepted, valued, and welcomed with open arms.

“The party holds a special place in my heart, and where I have shared countless memories.

“I am grateful to be back among the people and community that have always supported me, and to reunite with my political family”, he said.
