The Rivers State House of Assembly recognized by governor Siminalayi Fubara will today (Monday May 13th 2024) screen Dagogo I. Iboroma, SAN, the State Commissioner for Justice-nominee as a member of the State Executive Council member.
His letter for screening and confirmation as a member of the Rivers State Executive Council is contained in the invitation letter dated May 11, 2024, signed by the factional Clerk, G. Gills on behalf of Pro. Fubara Assembly led by
Oko-Jumbo, representing Bonny, addressed to the Commissioner nominee.
The letter requested Iboroma to come along with 10 copies of his Curriculum Vitae (CV), photocopies of his Credentials and Originals to the “Hallowed Chamber, River State House of Assembly Auditorium, Administrative Block, Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday 13th May 2024 at 10am. Prompt.
Last week, Governor Fubara issued Executive order, Governor Fubara, ordered immediate temporary relocation of the sitting of the State House of Assembly to the Auditorium, Admin Block of the Government House, Port Harcourt.
The order was contained in the State’s official Gazette, Executive Order of the Rivers State Government 001-2023.
Channels Television said the Governor’s decision was taken because the current House of Assembly complex in its present state is unsafe and constitutes a threat to the lives of the staff and the lawmakers.
TheNewspad reports that the development happened hours after a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt granted an interim injunction restraining pro-Wike speaker of the state House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, and 24 other members from parading themselves as legislators.
The move was after the factional Speaker, Oko-Jumbo declared all actions taken by the 27-man faction loyal to former Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, null and void. The pro-Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory faction led by Martin.
