The sale of ‘Adire’ wrappers to mark the swearing-in of Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu’s swearing-in on May 29, 2023, is generating ripples among Nigerians in social media Community.
This is happening barely two weeks after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu as the winner of February 23rd 2023 Presidential elections after securing 8,794,726 valid votes.
He defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, Atiku Abubakar, who scored 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of Labour Party, polled 6,101,533, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigerian Peoples Party trailed Obi with 1,496,687 votes in the election.
The post by a prominent loyal member of the All Progressives Congress, Binta Phatemah on Facebook, has divided Nigerians loyal to the 2023 Presidential Candidates of All Progressives Congress, (Bola Tinubu), Peoples Democratic Party (Atiku Abubakar) and Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
TheNewspad reports that the post that was shared by Binta Phatemah on Thursday evening, said five yards of the Adire material, which was displayed on the internet, sells for the sum of N10,000. 00 for Nigerians at home and diaspora.
Reacting to the ‘Adire cloth’ post, a Facebook user, ‘Lazz D Demola, accused Phatemah of using Tinubu’s victory to make money.
According to Demola wrote in despair that: “We that are praying day and night, are yet to get the benefits of their labour, yet commended Binta’s efforts.
Abdul Omeiza, raised concern over the authenticity of the product, terms and conditions, while Owo Ade Jamiu wrote, “Asiwaju is indeed a bulldozer of humans, least, you too have become a business tycoon through him.
Some younger Nigerians who referred themselves as ‘obedients’, however said selling Tinubu’s inauguration cloth in an elections Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that did not meet the expectations of most Nigerians, is insensitive.
