A trigger-happy policeman who reportedly gun down
Oyebuchi Anene, Byazhin residence in Abuja, has been taken arrested and taken into police custody.
The alleged extra-judicial killing, according to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh on May 22, 2024, at about 9:45.
Adeh who confirmed the arrest of the Cop, “expressed profound and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the public at large”.
The police officer responsible for the accidental discharge is in police custody, according to the statement, which condemned the unprofessional and disheartening conduct of the police officer.
The statement said CP Benneth C. Igweh, “directed the DC Criminal Investigation Department to commence an immediate and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased”.
The statement which did not name the alleged culprit, assured Anene’s family and the public of swift justice, said further development will be communicated in due course.
