Police parade two ‘Fulanis’, traffic official for kidnap murder, stealing

Two members of a kidnap criminal gang have been arrested by the Nigeria Police authorities Kwara State Capital, for alleged kidnapping and murder of two residents in the State.

The Police Command in the State, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, who spoke during the parade of the suspects on Tuesday, explained that Haruna Nuhu (28) with Umaru Shehu (25) — suspected to be from Bororo Fulani and other members of the gang (at large), abducted Abubakar Haruna and Kayode Musa on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

The two hostages, according to the CP, were driving from Oke-Onigbin to Isanlu-Isin in a Toyota Camry, when the group of armed men, emerged from the bush and abducted the hostages at Isanlu-Isin area in the State.

CP Adelesi stated that during effort to rescue the hostages, a team of police officers, local vigilantes, and hunters already on search of the victims were met with hails of gunshots at about 6:30p.m on 21st July 2023.

The State police boss said the suspects shot, killed their two victims and escaped into the bush, some of them with bullet injuries, while Ajide Abiodun Olaoluwa in a bid to escape being captured.

Commissioner Adelesi noted that one of the hostages was rescued alive, by security agents and hunters.

Determined to get the kidnappers arrested, the police, hunters and vigilante stormed the forests between Ijara-Isin and Isanlu-Isin where intelligence revealed that the kidnappers were hiding and got the two suspects arrested by the police with their weapons.

Meanwhile, an official of the Kwara State Traffic Management Agency (KWATMA), was among the criminal suspects that were also paraded on Thursday at the Police headquarters in the State.

The CP alleged that Ibrahim Saheed, was arrested alongside Usma Abdulkadri by police operatives for receiving stolen motorcycle belonging to Wasiu Abdulsalami of No. 19 Magaji street, in Kwara State, reported the incident.

The owners of the motorcycle, which has been recovered, told police that his motorcycle was stolen from the premises of Solid Worth Hotel, off Asa-Dam Road, that on July 16, 2023 at 7p.m.

The suspected motorcycle thief, Usma Abdulkadri was captured in a Close Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) footage, in the hotel.

The CCTV footage aided police investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects who are billed to appear in court as soon as investigation is completed.
