Peter Obi sweeps presidential election from Anambra

The Candidate of the Labour party Mr Peter Obi has been declared winner of Saturday February 23rd presidential election in Anambra State.

He polled a total of 584,621 (Five  Hundred Eighty-four Thousand, six Hundred and Twenty-one valid votes cast to beat peoples Democratic party, PDP Candidate, Atiku Abubarkar 9036 (Nine Thousand and Thirty six) valid votes to emerge the first run up in the contest.

Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu, came third with a total of 5111 (Five Thousand one Hundred and Eleven valid votes in the election, ahead of the ruling All progressives Grand Alliance APGA party in the State that scored  7388 (Seven Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty Eight) valid votes in the contest.

The Anambra State INEC Collation officer for the presidential election, Prof. Nnenna Otti, Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology Owerri, said a total of 2536156 voters Registered in the election, while 628590 voters voted in Anambra State which has 21 Local Government Areas at the polls.

She revealed that 613,861 were valid, while 10751 is the the total number of rejected votes. The total number of the valid votes cast in the election is 624,612.
