Senator Rowland Owie, former Chief Whip’s wife, Helen Owie has lost her life battle at 71 after brief illness.
Owie who represented Edo South Senatorial District in the upper Legislative Chamber between 1999-2003, said his beloved wife passed away peacefully in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Prominent Nigerians,. including former Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki have started sending tributes in honour of the departed matriarch.
Obaseki in a post on Facebook described Helen Owie as a rare gem having contributed immensely to the development of her Community.
He said Helen Owie was a virtuous, kind, graceful, and compassionate mother, who espoused strong family values and embodied the finest qualities of motherhood. For over five decades, she stood faithfully beside her husband.
“I am deeply saddened by the painful news of the passing of Lady Helen Owie, beloved wife of my dear brother, Senator Rowland Owie, and extend my heartfelt condolences to him and his family.
“I commiserate with my dear brother, Senator Rowland Owie, and the entire Owie family, friends, and associates, and pray that God will grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Obaseki enthused.
