Outrage as hoodlums beat up UNIBEN Guard

A yet-to-be identified Guard in the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has been beaten by hoodlums on Ugbowo Campus of the institution in Benin City.

It was leant that the attackers tied the Guard and dumped him in a gutter at the Sports Complex in the incident that occured at about 4am on Sunday, May 26.

Sources said passersby who heard the Guard crying for help, alerted other security agents that came to his rescue, and set him free.

Tension spill over when the Guard attempted to prevent vandals from stealing air conditioner in one of the offices at the Sports Complex.

University source said some UNIBEN security agents also known as PGs whose appointments are yet-to be regularized have threatened to down tools over paltry sum of N30,000 monthly wage.
