Influential grassroots mobilizer from Edo Central Senatorial District, Mr. Patsbolo Okpebholo, has dumped the Labour Party and declared support for Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flag bearer.
Okpebholo’s declaration of his allegiance to Ighodalo’s campaign team, followed his recent resignation from LP, citing alleged sell out by leadership of the party at national and state levels.
He particularly alleged the flagrant mortgage of governorship right of the Esan tribe of Edo State to the highest bidder, a move he condemned as lacking dignity and focus.
Confirming his exit from Labour Party in a telephone conversation with our Correspondent, Okpebholo said that he was moving his crowd of supporters and followers across the five LGAs to the PDP to support Dr Asue Ighodalo’s Candidature.
He said: “As it stands, only the PDP has shown genuine commitment to ensure Esan people have a shot at the seat of power in the State.
“And I’m going to be pulling out my resources and political structure within the five LGAs in Edo Central to work for the PDP and ensure Asue Ighodalo wins the coming gubernatorial election”, he said.
