Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Candidate in the Edo September 21 governorship election, has promised to assign women and youths pivotal role in government if he wins the forthcoming poll.
He made the pledge at the first Stakeholder consultation after he was officially given his Certificate of return as the Candidate of the Party.
This meeting, co-chaired with the Party’s National Youth leader, Mr. Muhammed Kadede, and his deputy, Timothy Osadolor, an indigene of Edo State.
The PDP Candidate emphasized the pivotal role of youth in Ighodalo’s government and highlighted his commitment to their empowerment.
Mr Kadede, assured Ighodalo of maximum mobilization of Edo youths to ensure his emergence as the next governor.
He commended Ighodalo’s dedication to working with youths, describing him as someone who is genuinely committed to the welfare of the people and youths of Edo State.
Before the event, Party National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, who presented Ighodalo with the Certificate of Return, expressed confidence in Dr. Ighodalo’s ability, character, and charisma to win Edo for PDP.
Damagum stated that the PDP is one and we organized and recognized only one primary in Edo State which produced Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
Addressing his party faithful and his supporters, Ighodalo said, “To the youths, it’s our time.
“By the grace of God and the will of the people of Edo State, we will run a government upheld by youths and with youths.
“Together, we will turn Edo into a state that everyone will be proud of. I will show leadership and direction. Our youths have promised that they won’t fail.
“We will show the rest of the world what we can achieve together as a people. We can become a first-world sovereign in Africa. I have seen the path and together, with your support and collaboration, we will achieve this”, he said.
Speaking further, Ighodalo emphasized the importance of women in his proposed government.
Ighodalo stated that they too will be a focal point of his administration.
He acknowledged the pivotal role women play in society and expressed his commitment to ensuring their active participation and representation.
The consultation meeting with the young Nigerians in the party, marks a significant step in Ighodalo’s campaign, showcasing his dedication to inclusive governance and youth empowerment in the State.
