Ogun pedestrian knocked down in fatal road crash, vehicle impounded

A 60-year-old pedestrian has been crushed in a fatal road crash at Ilara Area on Agbowa road via Ogijo in Ogun State, in an unspeakable act of cruelty.

David Rotimi, was allegedly knocked down by a 24-year-olf Quzeem Olaniyan, the driver of a Lexus ES 350 car marked KJA 363 JB Lagos, witnesses said the crash occurred on August 24th 2023.

The fatal accident occurred when the driver, who was traveling outward Ogijo – inward Agbowa, lost control of his vehicle on the intersecting road and knocked down the sixty-year-old pedestrian who was walking by the shoulder of the road, according to witnesses.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State, SP. Omolara Odutola said in a statement that “the impact on the pedestrian was fatal, he was immediately taken to Main Frame Hospital in Ogijo and later referred to General Hospital in Ikorodu Lagos, where the Doctor on duty confirmed him dead”.

The sexagenarian corpse, according to the statement, had been evacuated to Jas Private Mogue at Ita Oluwole Ogijo for preservation, while efforts are underway to reach his family members.

According, the vehicle has been recovered to the Ogijo Police Station for Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) Unit.

The Command’s spokesperson while taking a review of previous weeks, said cases of accidents of different shields, topped the chart in the Command.

Arising from the data, the Motorpol and Traffic Section of the Ogun State Police Command, is sending out a caution to motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians to exercise measures of patience, reduce over speeding, and comply with other traffic rules for safer roads in the State.
