Nine Ogun residents docked for alleged ‘land grabbing’ excite CP

Nine arrested Ogun State residents who were caught for land grabbing have been arraigned in court.

SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, gave the names of the accused as Akeem Rabiu (42), Ayodele Nureni (49), and Wasiu Olamilekan (32).

The police spokesperson, listed other accused persons to include Abiodun Adeoye (40), Samuel Abayomi (36), Sesan Badejo (35), Ademola Ajayi (58), BabaFemi Badejo (59)and Olabayo Jimoh (31) in a statement.

The accused persons were raided by crack Police teams of 71 Police Mobile Force, Anti Cultism, Anti-Kidnapping, Patrol team Divisions under Ijebu-Ode Area of the State in line with the CP’s determination to stamp-out criminal activities in the State.

Police said the arrest of the accused on August 1, 2023, was ordered by CP. Abiodun after residents of Odosegolu village via Ijebu-Ode on Ijebu-ode-Epe expressway, raised the alarm, which led to the arrest of the accused.

The police also expressed delight that the arrest and arraignment of accused who had consistently grabbed communal lands in Ijebu-Ode Community and engaged in other unlawful activities.

On Wednesday’s statement, further assured that ongoing prosecution of the alleged land grabbers after a diligent investigation by the Police had been concluded, have brought a great relief for Ogun residents.
