NDLEA nabs grandpa for alleged drug trafficking

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a grandfather, Mallam Mai Gemu Adam along with three other suspects for alleged drug trafficking.

Spokesman of the Agency, Femi Babafemi in a statement on Sunday, said the 70-year-old suspect, was nabbed with 65-year-old Yamama Musa, 24-year-old Abubakar Ya’u and 28-year-old Babagana Abubakar Ali on Saturday March 9.

Babafemi said quartet, was arrested on Maiduguri and Gamboru-Ngala respectively, while 32,000 ampoules of tramadol injection were recovered from them,. according to the NDLEA.

The NDLEA spokesman revealed that NDLEA men at Geidam in Yobe State also intercepted a Golf 3 salon car heading to Gagamari in Niger Republic same day.

The statement said the occupant, Alhaji Mala Tijjani, 28, was to deliver 40 blocks of cannabis weighing 24.5kg to another dealer.

A total of 42 cartons containing 8,400 bottles of codeine syrup weighing 1,260 kilograms were recovered from a driver, Mutari Ya’u, 29, at Katsina road, Kaduna on Tuesday 5th March.

NDLEA operatives also intercepted drugs during stop-and-search operation on Gbongan – Ibadan road, Osun State highway during the past week.

Elsewhere in Osun, Maiduguri, Kaduna and Kano States, men of the anti-narcotic agents intercepted various quantities of drugs, while drug suspects were arrested by NDLEA in separate operations the previous week.

Furthermore, the anti-narcotic Agency also recorded breakthroughs in its war against drug trafficking across Lagos, FCT, Okene-Lokoja-Abuja, Niger, Plateau, Anambra, Enugu States in the previous week.
