The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has plan to establish a ‘well equipped and functional fire station to tackle fire incidents’ in the Constituency, is underway.
The tragic incident, coming so soon after the windstorm uprooted Century-old trees that
claimed four lives and destroyed the market.
He made the pledge after a devastating fire outbreak destroyed shops and goods worth millions of Naira on January 21, 2025 at Jattu market in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State.
In a statement endorsed by his Chief of Staff, Victor Oshioke on Facebook, sympathized with Jattu Community particularly business owners who loss their goods and other valuables to the disaster.
He said, “its painful timing the fire outbreak occurred weeks after the festive season when most traders have restocked their goods in preparation for the year”.
“I am deeply grateful to God that no lives were lost. However, I empathize with the pain and frustration of seeing well-earned investments go up in flames”, he said.
The Senator who said he is grateful that no life was lost in the fire, encouraged the affected traders to remain hopeful and resilient, assuring them of his unwavering support.
He also prayed for a swift recovery and urged the Community to view the incident as an opportunity to strengthen bonds that foster unity, “rebuild and emerge stronger”.
Earlier, former deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shuaibu, expressed grief over the incident, stating that “this is not just a loss for the affected traders but for the entire Jattu-Uzairue Kingdom.
Shaibu said, “Our market is not just a place of business—it is a symbol of our unity, hard work, and heritage.
He urged all well-meaning individuals, organizations, and leaders within and beyond our Community to come together in solidarity to provide relief to those affected, rebuild what has been lost, and restore hope to our people”, he said.
