The management of University of Benin, UNIBEN has approved only UNIBEN-produced and branded water will now be allowed for sale and serving within Ugbowo and Ekehuan Campuses in Edo State.
In a circular dated May 8, 2026, and signed by the University Registrar, Bimpe Omoyiwola, said the decision followed the increased production capacity of the UNIBEN water factory.
The optimal water production that has hit all times high of about 8,000 sachet bags in addition to 1,000 packs of bottled water daily, was cited as reasons.
The circular said no other brand of sachet or bottled water will be permitted at shops or at events on both Campuses, ahead of the enforcement order that expected to begin on Monday, May 11, 2026.
Accordingly, business operators and Campus authorities have also been directed to ensure strict compliance.
