Leadership crisis: 3 Edo lawmakers suspended

Three members of Edo State House of Assembly have been slammed with suspension from the Parliament by the leadership of the House.

The members, Mr Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo II) Bright Iyamu(PDP Orihonmwon South) and Adeh Isibor, (Esan North East 1).

The trio suspension, was motivated by a claim that they brought voodoo Priest into the House at midnight on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 to make some demonic incantations and dropped charms in the Assembly Complex.

During the sitting on Monday, May 6th 2024, at the Assembly Complex, the Speaker pronounced the three members suspended, a a dramatic move considered not to have any legal frame.

The Speaker said the three lawmakers were being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and remove the leadership of the House.

In their defence during the rowdy session, the three suspended lawmakers unanimously screamed, and echoed, “Mr speaker you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member (s) of the House.

“You must call for votes. Allow members vote on the matter”, the suspended members in disbelief rejected.

TheNewspad reports that there was palpable tension at the King square on Monday.
