Kwara: DSS grills Cleric for ignoring warning ahead of church attack

Date:

Operatives of the Department for State Security Services, DSS arrested Prophet Adebayo Abiodun of Ijo Ajaye Ati Igbala, Ori Oke, Ekerin Village, following a brutal attack that led to the death of three worshippers and abduction of 15 others by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday May 24.

Investigation revealed that his invitation and grilling that lasted for hours on Monday May 25, 2026, was in connection with Prophet Abiodun’s insistence on holding night vigil in the locality considered as volatile by the authority.

TheNewspad reports that the interrogation by DSS was part of effort to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and prior security alerts issued to the area.

Reports indicate that prior warnings were issued through relevant authorities and the Christian Association of Nigeria, advising churches within that vicinity to suspend night vigils and avoid holding late-night gatherings due to rising security threats in the environment.
