A fashion designer who abandoned his craft and became a Tiktoker,
Kowiu Oloyede, has declared that he got inspiration from a viral video where he raised false alarm that bandits had invaded the Atan Ota area of Ogun State.
He made the disclosure matter he was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria police Command in in State for creating and circulating his recent video, for views and following on his social media handles.
The 25-year-old male suspect, was arrested on May 23rd 2026 by police operatives attached to the Atan Ota Division in the State, according to the Command’s spokesman,
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.
A statement by the police spokesman, DSP Babaseyi said, “Upon receiving intelligence regarding the suspect, he was brought in for questioning”.
He revealed that the case is presently being handled at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta in the State.
He revealed that Kowiu Oloyede, was arrested by the Atan Ota Division of the Ogun State Police Command on the 23rd day of May, 2026, for creating and circulating a false TikTok video alleging that bandits had invaded the Atan Ota.
“Upon receiving intelligence regarding the suspect, he was brought in for questioning. The case is presently being handled at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“Preliminary findings show that the video was false,. misleading and capable of causing fear and panic as well as disturbance of public peace”, DSP Babaseyi said.
Speaking in a interview, the suspect, said, “I am a fashion designer. I am the owner of the Tiktok account – ‘Nice boy’. I created the account in January 2026.
“I was at my shop and I saw it on Tiktok that people were using gunshots sound tomake videos and get followers. I used the bush near my fashion designer’s shop to do it based on what I see other people do.
“I started to do more videos when I noticed that the fake one I did before that bandits have invaded my neighborhood, has gone viral in the internet”, according to him.
