IGP promotes junior officers, tasks personnel

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has approved the promotion of deserving junior officers in a bid to enhance the welfare of personnel.

Force Public Relations officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who confirmed this in a statement on Friday, said 10,581 (Five Ten Thousand Five Hundred and Eighty-one deserving junior officers of the Inspectorate Cadre, and the Rank and File.

A breakdown of promotions include, 9,831 (Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty-one) police Constables are to be promoted to the rank of Corporal while 81 (Eighty-one) Corporals are to advance to the rank of Sergeant.

Similarly, 669 (Six Hundred and Sixty-nine) officers are set to progress from the rank of Sergeants to Inspectors.

ACP Adejobi said in line with this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration (DIG DFA), has been tasked with coordinating efforts alongside the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to commence the promotion process promptly.

The statement also said Nigeria Police Force extends its heartfelt congratulations to all officers slated for promotion, which is said was based on merit.

It urged the newly promoted personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation.
