Igbinedion introduces new slang into politics

A former House of Representatives in Ovia federal Constituency, Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion pinched spectators in disbelief when she introduced a new slang into Nigeria’s politics — postulating that AiO2 is equal to Edionwan (old man) square (raise-to-power of 2), which many considered as a colloquial phrase use to mock geriatrics.

Few days ago, Omosede dumped a stumbling
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress after sharing glimpses of her resignation from her former party with her fans on social Media.

She was reportedly belched a foul air on Saturday at Edo APC governorship campaign on Saturday in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State, where Mr Osarodion Ogie, the immediate past Secretary to Edo State government hails from.

While addressing APC members and supporters at the rally on Saturday, the former House Representatives member said, “youth talk to youths, youths will understand. Women talk to women, women will understand. This election is your election.

But the politician did not mention the names of Mr Asue Ighodalo, PDP governorship Candidate and his running mate, Mr Osarodion Ogie, but (AiO2) PDP campaign symbol, connotes Asue Ighodalo and Ogie Osarodion who are both
Sexagenarian.

According to her, “There is nothing on the other side (PDP). AiO2 is equal to Edionwan (old man) square. In this contest, we do not need Edionwan.

“We want youths that are able, agile and ready. And Government House will be open to all of you and you will have access to your Governor and deputy Governor.

“I have come to work for you. I have come to work for you and my brother, Hon. Dennis Idahosa. This election is Ovia agenda. We have not had a deputy Governor in Ovia before. So, it’s important for us”, Omosede said.

Omosede, one of the beloved daughters of Esama, who is a founding member of PDP, is being speculated to the political pundits as a likely Candidate of APC for Ovia federal Constituency if the member, representing her Constituency, Hon. Dennis Idahosa realizes his deputy governorship ambition in the forthcoming election.

She stepped down for Asue Ighodalo shortly before the Edo State PDP governorship primaries, barely one year after she failed to win re-election to the lower legislative chamber of the National Assembly at the 2023 National Assembly poll.

On his part, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Edo State APC governorship Candidate for the election, urged youths to work together to election him and the governorship Candidate of his party, Senator Monday Okpebholo in order to secure their future.

Earlier, the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District and former Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, berated the immediate past Secretary to the State Government for failing to influence Governor Godwin Obaseki to build access roads in his locality.

He also advised Mr Osarodion Ogie to seek federal appointment and leave politics for youths like Hon. Idahosa and Senator Okpebholo
who are fit as fiddle.

Oshiomhole who reinvigorated the campaign said, ‘it’s time to Ogie to go and rest after 16 years. I appointed him as SSG”.
“I advice him to look for work at federal.
“He (Ogie) is 65 years.

“The Civil servants in Edo State retires at 60. Why will you hire a retiree to go and work. The Governorship Candidate is also about the same age. That is his official age. It could be more than that. It’s youth O’ clock”, he said at the rally, which is nowhere near over yet.
