Hisbah member escapes death while attempting to enforce Ramadan fast

Date:

A yet-to-be named Hisbah enforcer, was beaten up and got shave with death while trying to bully some youths believed to be cult members, known as “Yan Daba” group for not fasting during Ramadan — a religious duty without a valid Islamic reason in Kano State.

Hisbah promotes public morality and enforces Sharia law operating through community policing, supervision of public behaviour, and ensuring compliance with Islamic ethical standards in some northern Nigeria States.

Hausawa in a post on Facebook said the alleged enforcer who considered the action of the “Yan Daba”, got more than he bargained when he attempted to confront them for being in a state of sin.

He posted: “Kano Hisbah member escape death when he tries to bully some youths believe to be ‘Yan Daba’ cult members, for allegedly not fasting in Ramadan”.

Netizens in social media Community are arguing that fasting during Ramadan remain a religious duty, as fasting is obligatory (Fard) for all adult Muslims who have attained puberty.

Freeman Pius wrote:
“He has received a little sense”, while Ohamadike NwaGeorge, insisted that “Religion of peace but problems of the world, so fasting is now by force”.

Yusuf A. Yufus:
He shouldn’t do that alone but thank God He escaped”, while Edbliss Etimita argues that “Na him foolishness for kill am, asking if “fasting is by force?”

According to Aguleri Dubem, “Fasting is between you and your God no concern anybody whether you do or not, while another Facebook user, Shamsuddeen Nasir said, “fasting is not by force but mandatory for every adult muslim”.

Thomson Obidike wrote: “I think that fasting is personal with your creator and does not suppose to be enforced”.

Also speaking, Ugobest Douglas noted that “forcing people to fast when the body and spirit rejected it,and not willing, forgetting that fasting is solely between you and your God”.
