A gas explosion involving a long truck marked BBJ-542XAF ladden with Liquified Natural Gas Product (LPG) better known as cooling gas was had been averted in Ogun State, leaving three survivors hospitalized.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State, CSP Omolola Odutola said on in a statement that the accident occurred on Sagamu/Benin Expressway, Ijebu-Ife.
A Divisional Police Officer of Ijebu-Ife Division received a complaint on the 12th of January 2025 at about 0035hrs, according to the statement.
The driver of the truck and two members of the crew sustained minor injuries and has been taken to Ireayo Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
CSP Odutola revealed that a call had been made to the fire service station Ijebu-Ode, and one of their vehicles was already on ground for safety at the time the statement was issued.
She said the company has equally made arrangements for recovery crane vehicles. Road Safety Officers are equally on ground.
According to her, “Efforts are ongoing to recover the truck, and motor traffic division is on the ground, enduring free flow of traffic.
“Although impatient commuters gave began using one one-way and obstructing vehicles on the alternate road from having their right way”, the spokesperson said.
