Esan King issues code of conduct to migrants

The Onojie of Ujiogba Kingdom in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, HRH Solomon Ojeaga, the Izuware 1, has issued code of conduct to economic migrants living in the area, assuring them of safety.

This followed the security threats occasioned by the recent killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area from the northern part of Nigeria in a mob attack and arrest of some suspects in connection with the heinous crime.

Ojeaga who gave the advice while addressing economic migrants in his Palace at Ujiogba, admonished the migrants to obey rules and regulations of Esanland and warned them social vices.

He stated that Ujiogba people are hospitable to the all Nigerians irrespective of their tribes or religion affinity, but, his Kingdom which is a home to everyone, does not toy with its Customs and tradition, especially as it concerns the maintenance of law and order in the land.

The traditional ruler who spoke through an interpreter urged the migrants to “ignore negative comments that could lead to violence.

“It’s more profitable to have two homes for comfort and prosper as well as have more money to spend and send home”.

“Many Hausa people have spent 15-20 years living with us here (Ujiogba). I know some of them. So, behave well.

“We all know the rules and regulations. Do not float them. Do not steal, do not fight, do not kill. Shun evil and other social vices. We forbid them in Esanland.

“If you involve in harmful practices, you could sleep and pass unto death because we uphold our tradition a lot at Ujiogba.

“We also curse anyone that wants to cause problems for us. And we also pray for the well-being of everyone in Esanland.

“Those who indulge in evil are doom. As we have Christians and Muslims; so we have African tradition here.

“Our shrine will protect good people and destroy evil doers. Hence, I decided to call all of you and address you having rounded off your fasting”, he said.
