My wife struggled with death, Cleric opens up on wife’s assassination

The Pastor in charge of General Overseer of God’s Vineyard of Grace Dominion Assembly, Samuel Chinyereugo has relieved his encounter with suspected assassins who shot his wife, Reverend (Mrs) Peace Chinyereugo dead on Monday.

The tragedy occurred in front of his church at 101 Upper Mission Extension, Ikpoba Okha Local government Area of Edo State while returning from a function in the Government Reservation Area in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

He alleged that an unidentified armed man ambushed his vehicle and another car his wife was in and rained bullets on them.

Pastor Chinyereugo revealed that when he noticed that the armed men have ceasefire, he stood up and escaped after the operational vehicle that conveyed the hoodlums have zoomed off.

Consequently, the Cleric said he ran to a police station with bullet wound to make entry of the incident, thinking that his wife, also escaped the attackers.

In utter dismay, he received a phone that his wife has been found, Pastor Chinyereugo said he quickly mobilized to the scene with his driver, and took his wife to Edo State Specialist Hospital in Benin City where his 58-year-old wife, was confirmed dead by a doctor.

“The man shot gun. The thing was coming and coming. Finally, when I noticed that they (suspected assassins) have ceasefire, I stood up and their car was already running to move and zoomed off.

“I thought my wife had escaped. I was probably thinking that I was the one that they (suspected assassins) were looking for.

“My wife was battling with death when we saw her. The young doctors tried, but, we lost her.”, the distraught Cleric said.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, said that Command has began investigation into the incident.

He noted that the State Commissioner of Police, has given a marching order Tactical teams and other Police operatives to go after the perpetrators of the crime and bring the adversities to their kneels.

Mourners including members of the Pentecostal church and family members over the sad incident.

TheNewspad reports that police operatives attached to the Homicide Unit of the Command, has visited the crime scene for the on-the-spot assessment and diligent investigation of the crime.
