Iyayi Eboigbe, the youth leader (Okaighele) of Iyanomo Community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State has been brutalized by louts, leaving him with life threatening head injury.

He was attacked by a group of youths in connection with a dispute following the recent relocation of Cattle herders camp ― within the disputed vast communal land in the locality, before a court of competent jurisdiction.

The youth leader, who was rescued by Samaritan and taken to an undisclosed hospital for urgent medical attention in Benin City, said he was invited for mediation on the issue when he was attacked.

He alleged that his travail started when elders of Iyanomo wrote a letter, requesting the Benin Palace to approve the most-ranking elder in their Community to be appointed as Iyanomo Community head (Odionwere) after the demise of the former Community head, who has joined his ancestors.

Eboigbe, alleged that the move was not in sink with the interest of the Duke (Enogie) ― appointed to oversee the area, after wrongly accusing him of approving the relocation order of some herders into the interior portion of the disputed land.

The brutal attack has been reported to the Benin Palace, and police authorities in Edo State for further investigation.
