A yet-to-be identified woman attempted suicide after trekking a long distance in Oredo Local Government Government Area of Edo State on Monday.

The woman reportedly picked up a broken bottle from no where attempted to stab herself beside a popular church on Mission road.

The incident, attracted a crowd of sympathizers who lamented the worsening effects of the naira crisis in Nigeria.

Sources said the aged woman had a disagreement with his children at home over insufficient cash before embarking on undisclosed trip against her children’s advice.

A trader who gave his name Nneka, told TheNewspad that the depressed woman who was however rescued by passerby.

He said “the dark in complexion woman who regretted her action, said she was “tired of life”.

Nneka said he suspected that the frustration might made her to attempt suicide.

According to him, “Fortunately, one of her family members was able to reach her children over the phone for urgent attention”.

SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Edo State, was unavailable as at the time of filing this report.
