Zainab, widow whose husband, identified only as Yarayaki was reportedly shot dead during a robbery incident at Bureau De change premises on Sokponba road by Erie junction last Sunday in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State has welcome a new baby girl.
Investigation revealed that the unarmed widow of the slain Benin-based Gold dealer, from the northern part of Nigeria, who lost some gold jewelry worth over N400 million to the attack, put to bed recently at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital via Cesarian section (C-S).
The businessman, died on-the-spot after he was shot during a scuffle with armed men who gained access into his gold jewelry shop through a narrow pathway after they had under study the area via a nearby street.
Two other gunshot victims who sustained wound during the operation are said to be responding to treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
TheNewspad investigation also indicates that the hoodlums, numbering six, used a black colour Lexus spot Utility vehicle during the operation that lasted for few minutes.
Body of the jewelry dealer captured in a Close Circuit television, CCTV footage, was gummed down by the hoodlums at his shop, was evacuated by police operatives and was buried in accordance to Islamic rites hours later.
Some concerned Muslim leaders have come in for the distraught widow, Zainab, and her baby in order to carry on with the new reality at this sombre moment.
But police authorities in Edo State have neither confirm nor deny the the jaw-breaking incident that left three persons injured, while residents around the bursting business district.
Commuters and some pedestrians who were caught in the melee, told TheNewspad reporter that the scene was like Nollywood movie, according to a tenant in the area, who expressed shock over the incident, while commending the response of security personnel response that deterred the hoodlums who fled the crime in their operational vehicle in response to the fatal security emergency.
A communication with our reporter and the Police Public Relations officer (2i/c) of the Police Command in Edo State, ASP Eno Ikoedem Deputy, who opted for Whatsapp channel discussion, was tossed after the message from the later sent to him went unreplied at time of filing this crime report.
Police patrol operatives have intensified security around Bureau De change premises in Metropolitan area in response to one of the several brutal attacks in some parts of the State.
But a top police officer at the Nigeria Police Command hinted Newspad reporter that forensic experts acting on orders of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika have started analyzing the CCTV footage in the attack to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime soon.
