The Department of State Security Service, DSS has arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping of Justice Ebiyerin Umokoro in Bayelsa State, Niger Delta region.
President, Bayelsa State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Daniel Ayah said two criminal suspects who were taken into custody by men of the Nigeria Police Command in the State in connection with the alleged crime.
Umokoro, who was whisked from his SUV into an operational van used by some armed men who disguised as security agents at a popular eatery, opposite Keki motor Park in Yenogoa, and abducted him
Reports say, the judge was thereafter took him into captivity for 12 days before he was released, amid outrage by Nigerians.
Justice Ayah who dis not disclose the names of the suspects who are currently helping security agencies to dismantle the armed gang, lauded the Nigerian military, police and DSS operatives for their gallantry and the State government.
Narrating his ordeal in the hands of his abductors, Justice Ebiyerin Umokoro, who stated that he is overwhelmed with joy, thanked God almighty and prayer of Nigerians, including his family during his travail.
“I still couldn’t come to terms with my kidnapping. In fact, I was kept in jungle by hoodlums, masquerading as security men.
“I am overwhelmed with emotions. Today will go down in history as unforgettable day for me”, he confessed.
Briefing journalists at the weekend, the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Alonyenu Francis Idu said, “It has been a very harrowing week”.
“Thankfully to God, and the collective effort of security agencies and with Bayelsa people; we are finding foreclosures. We are bound by our obligations”, CP Idu said.
