Dead chicken meat seller arrested in Bauchi

Operatives of Shari’a Law Enforcers, (Hisba), in Bauchi State, have arrested Aminu Jalaba, the owner meat shop, which was also sealed for selling dead meat, including dead chickens to residents of the State.

The alleged offence, contravene Section 398 of Bauchi State 2021 Sharia laws, prohibiting sales, hiring, transporting animals products, including dead meat across the State.

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Health, Aminu Balarabe confirmed the incident to journalists who accompanied the Sharia Commission and Religion Affairs (Hisbah Commission) to the popular Muhda Lawan market in the State.

This followed alleged complaints that the suspect sold dead chicken meat to some Bauchi State residents.

The State government official said, “we got an information that there was someone that buy dead chicken animals and sell them to the general public”.

He also said, “As part of the responsibilities bestowed on Hisbah Commission in Bauchi, this issue of buying dead meat and selling to the general public is entirely Prohibited both in Islam and Bauchi State laws.

Condemning the act, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and societal Orientation, Mohammed Binni, noted that the State Governor is saddened by the shocking revelation and has ordered investigation into the alleged crime with a view to bringing the culprits behind the act to book without fail.

“The Governor was so much disturbed. He said we must take proper action”, according to the government official.
