Drama as youths pile up corpse in Edo roadblock

A dead man’s body was piled up on a roadblock
for several hours on Wednesday by some youths bounded by an unimaginable grief at Iguomo/ Ikhueniro junction on the Benin-Asaba road.

The fury by machete-wielding migrant youths, according to sources, stem from the alleged murder of one of their Community members by a security agent.

But, the motive behind the alleged shooting remains unclear, deepening the complexity of the incident.

The action of the aggrieved youths who took matters into their own hands, erecting barricades and setting bonfires on the road, also caused gridlock.

Iroko online Magazine said a wave of unrest
caused by the impromptu blockade, left commuters stranded during the melee, noting that the absence of law enforcement agents worsened the situation.

It also said attempts to document the scene were met with vehement opposition from the enraged youths, who made chants and adamantly prevented any photographs.

TheNewspad reports that traffick on the roads convulsed for hours, while several passengers forced to either disembark from buses arriving from both the Asaba and Agbor directions or seek alternate routes.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor could not be reached for comments when he was contacted.
