Dispute over ‘pomo table’ ends in tragedy

Incessant uncontrollable anger, arguments that led to a fight between neighbours over a ‘worktable’ has caused the death of Mrs Tope Owoade in Ogun State.

The housewife, was the owner of the table she uses the work in selling edible animal skin, popularly known as ‘pomo’ in local parlance.

The Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State,
SP Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.

The incident was reported a Divisional Police officer of Ogijo Area in the State at about 2030hrs on the 28th of March, 2024 by Isiaka Owoade, husband of the 43-year-old trader.

The widower who told police that he was away when the two neighbours (54-year-old father and his 17-year-old son, allegedly punched his wife mercilessly and inflicted fatal injuries on
her, which caused her bleeding from the womb and in her vagina.

Mr Isiaka said his wife told him after he returned home from a journey that she was attacked by Chizoke Obiadada and his son, Michael Obiadada, after she cautioned the duo not to sit on her work table the previous day.

The widower stated that his wife was rushed to Main Frame private hospital and Kunle hospital Atan Agowa, and she was rejected.

Mr Isiaka further told the police that his wife gave up the ghost while she was being taken to a government hospital.

The police spokesperson stated in the statement that two murder suspects, Mr Chizoke Obiadada (father) and Michael Obiadada (son) have been arrested by the police in connection with the alleged murder.

The police spokesperson said immediately the murder case was reported, the Divisional Police Officer arrested the culprits and are currently undergoing preliminary investigations.

The police image maker assured that the case will be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

Meanwhile, effort is ongoing to deposit the deceased in OOUTH Sagamu morgue for post mortem examination,. according to SP Odutola.
