It was a deep emotional moment reflecting on lessons of resilience, hard work and teamwork for members Eghosa Old Boys Association (EGHOBA) ‘Class 1984’ during the Alma Mater reunion of the body, comprising professionals groups ― including politicians, business executives and academics.
The celebration in Benin City, the Edo State Capital, offered Nigerians to reflect on past memories, interact, share ideas, honour distinguished personalities and project into the future.
One of the personalities who have made a mark and made positive impacts, Engr. Victor Omoruyi was unveiled as the new President of EGHOBA, Class 84, alongside other member executive on the occasion.
The turnout of members of the Association with their spouses at the Gala Night, has become
scintilla of evidence that better days lie ahead of the Association.
In a remark after subscribing to oath of office, Mr Omoruyi, acknowledged members for their prayers, commitment, support and confidence in his led administration.
He did not leave anyone in doubt about his capacity to vigorously pursue the vision and mission of EGHOBA through focus-driven leadership.
The registration of 150 members in addition to 56 committed financial members, were highlighted as some of the milestones the Association has recorded, according to Association President, who however expressed regret over the loss of some members, while praying for the repose of their souls at the event.
The global legal Adviser of EGHOBA, Mr Victor Ohiusumua, representative of the Diaspora Chairman disclosed, expressed delight for the show of solidarity.
Chairman on the day, Engr. Awhinawhi Victor Torbam who was represented at the event, said he is pleased with the level of commitment, selflessness in service to humanity, leadership clarity, style, all this he said earned him this second term in office, he ascertained his happy for him with prayer to God for his sustenance in health, wealth, uncommon wisdom respectively.
He also assured of introducing new innovation that will grow and develop the association in his second term in office.
Delivering his goodwill message, the Chairman on the occasion, Engr. Awhinawhi Victor Torbam, said he is pleased with the level of commitment of members of the body.
He informed the gathering that the selflessness in service to humanity, leadership clarity, style and other leadership acumen, earned Omoruyi a second chance to lead EGHOBA.
He prayed God for his sustenance in health, wealth, uncommon wisdom respectively.
One of the awardees and Islamic scholar in Edo State, Mr Suleman Abubakar described the initiative is a welcome development, and thanked organizers of the event for his recognition and honour.
The event was climax with the swearing-in of new executives and presentation of meritorious award of excellence to deserving members.
For a journey that began barely four decades after leaving the school, having gone through the vagaries of life, it was also time to take stock, self-appraise and project into the dream future.
