Benin monarch to unveil Queen mother’s statue

Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, CFR has concluded plans to unveil the statue of Iyoba N’ Uselu, Queen mother, Ikuoyemwen in the name of Almighty God and his ancestors.

Iguobaro Osaigbovo, Chief Press Secretary to the Oba said in a statement on Wednesday that the unveiling of the statue will take place at 5 junction on Uselu Lagos Road, Benin City on Friday 24th 2023 at 3p.m prompt.

Recall that “the Oba in a precise sequence of events, had conferred the Chieftaincy title of Iyoba N’ Uselu posthumously on his mother, Queen Ikuoyemwen on Saturday 21st November 2021.

“Iyoba N’ Uselu title began during the era of Queen Idia, the mother of Oba Esigie in 16th Century in Benin Kingdom”, according to the statement.
