258 inmates get free haircut in Edo prisons

A total of 258 inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service Medium Security Custodial Centre at Oko in Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State have been given a free haircut.

 

The partnership programme of the Command and God’s Vision Soul Winning Foundation, is targeted at good hygiene and healthy practices in Inmates care and management.

 

Spokesman of the

Nigerian Correctional Service Command in Edo State, Suleman Aminu disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement.

 

He said aside from been the highest of number of inmates hair cut in a single day, the initiative was aimed at achieving the Correctional Service goals of Inmates reformation, rehabilitation and effective reintegration back into the society.

 

The Controller of NCoS, Edo State Command, CCS Orhunmwonkpawan Julius Osemwegie expressed appreciation to the partnering NGO for the kind gesture for the Welfare of the inmates and the Correctional Service.

 

In his goodwill message, the Controller of Corrections Edo State Command CCS Orhunmwonkpawan Osemwegie, represented by CSC Patience Idowu, revealed that the programme will have positive impact in the health, well being and overall peace of the Custodial Centre.

 

In her remarks Evangelist Christabel Oboh, President of the NGO, commended the inmates for the display of commitment and participation.

 

She encouraged them to seek relationship with God and be sincerely reform in order to be better citizens in future.

 

The event where 15 barbers exhibited their crafts, also featured competition, Questions/answer section, and general counselling.
