A self-exiled Nigerian, Alfred Uyinosa, has tendered an unreserved apology to Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin over his earlier threat to bomb the Oba of Benin Palace in Benin City, created the impression for a call for violence.
The furore bagan after the Supreme Court upheld the Election of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner of September 21st 2024 governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The former aide to ex-Governor of Edo State verbal threat via social media Livestream, to bomb Benin palace, sparking public anger and condemnation as well as push back by concerned citizens.
Following the outrage, Uyinosa went on a self-exile in his bid to escape arrest and prosecution by security.
In his apology via a viral video, Uyinosa said, “I want to tender an unreserved apology to Benin Kingdom and the Oba of Benin. Every statement that I have made or said regarding the Palace”.
Continuing, Uyinosa, who had tendered a similar apology to Governor Monday Okpebholo and promised to support his economic policies, admitted that his comments against the Benin Palace were out of order and expressed regret over his action.
According to him, “I am deeply sorry. I said before, I have come to renounce what I said before. Whatever I have said before, I retrieve all. I regret all my actions”.
