How sickle cell ruined my marriage, by actress Eucharia

Veteran Nigerian actress and producer, Actress Eucharia Anunobi has relieved her experience on how sickle cell disorder ruined her marriage in 2006.

59-year-old actress, , according to Nwanyi Buife Vivian Onuorah Facebook post, Saturday, said her marriage began to hit the rocks when her son, Raymond after birth was diagnosed with sickle Cell Anemia.

The disease is an inherited disease in which the red blood cells have an abnormal crescent shape, block small blood vessels, and do not last as long as normal red blood cells.

The actress turn Pastor who was married to Charles Ekwu in the year 2000, revealed that after a prolonged tussled between her and her husband over huge medical bills of their son who died at age 17

The Nollywood actress advised intending Couples to know their “genotype before you fall in love . Love can’t stand the pain of sickle cell”.

“I got married in 2000 and had a son, Raymond. From the moment I had him, my marriage began to hit the rocks.

“It was one hospital visit after another, one medical expense to another. The experience halted our lives and put a strain on our love.

“My husband blamed me for our situation and I blamed him too. I watched my son suffer. I watched my husband.

“And I go from spouses, to friends, to people who just fought and fought about medical bills and taking care of our son.

“Finally in 2006, our marriage ended and I was left alone with our son.

“I cried a lot. It was so overwhelming that I couldn’t even pursue my acting passion any longer.

“Sadly, I lost my son at the age of 17.

“Please, know your genotype before you fall in love . Love can’t stand the pain of sickle cell”, which she claimed also affected her career in the entertainment world.

Anunobi who bagged her PhD in Christian Education and Ministerial Art from Kingdom Life Bible College International, Lagos, said in an interview with the Sun Newspaper that she is now in the business of winning souls for Christ.

She also stated that she is single and searching for a life partner and gave terms and conditions for suitors.

She best known for her role in the movie Abuja Connection. She was nominated at 2020 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or TV Series.

The award winning actress hails from South Eastern part of Nigeria, had featured in several films, including Glamour girls, Abuja connection, Mom’s war and bleeding butterfly and others.
