Asue Ighodalo, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Edo State, has disclosed plans to make poverty history if he secures his party nomination and win the September 21 2024 election.
He made the pledge while briefing journalists at the Correspondents’ Chapel Secretariat in Benin City where he listed areas of priority which include but not limited to Agriculture, Rural Development, Education and provision of infrastructure, water and energy.
Ighodalo also promised to walk the talk, leverage on the comparative advantage of Local government Areas in the State as a tool for revenue generation and economic development of the State.
According to him, “One thing that has worried me is the level of poverty in Edo State. It’s rather high. So, we need to drive our people out of poverty”, by deploring problems- solving instruments and drive financial inclusion that will make Edo State a bub for global trade.
The governorship aspirant challenged Media practitioners to be precise in profiling aspirants that are seeking elective positions and set agenda that would entrench credible leaders in the coveted positions by separating rhetoric from facts ahead of the election, which he said is fundamental.
He also said his decision to resign from his positions on the Boards of some Corporate Organizations, was in the interest to serve Edo people and make impacts in the State.
Continuing, Ighodalo said, “I am 100 per cent committed to the upliftment of our State and the betterment of our people.
“You can’t tell us our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is ‘X’ or same with Dubai when people cannot eat or have money in their pocket”, he said.
