Youths reject planned protest by suspended Enogie

Youths in Evbolekpen Community have rejected call to a planned protest by the suspended Enogie of Evbolekpen Dukedom, Ebabulele Obanosa

in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State at the Oba of Benin Palace in Benin City.

Obanosa and 70 other Enigie (Dukes) were suspended indefinitely by Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin for allegedly leading rebellion against Benin monarchy during the administration of ex- Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.

To fill the void created by the absence of the suspended Enogie, Oba Ewuare II, directed Chief Festus Osagie Aiyeki, the Enogie (Duke) of Iguogie Dukedom, Festus to oversee the affairs of the neighbouring Evbolekpen Dukedom on his behalf in addition to Iguogie, Okhonmwenre, Igue-otor, Igue-Edobor, Evboro villages in the same Local Government Area of the State.

Oba Ewuare’s recent directive, conveyed to Aiyeki in Oba Palace in Benin City by Chief Stanley Obamwonyi, the Esere of Benin in gathering of the Evbolekpen village elders who were charged to work with the Enogie of Iguogie.

The suspended Enogie of Evbolekpen has called on youths in the Community to join him to embark on a peaceful protest to Oba Palace and seek Oba Ewuare’s pardon at a date that is yet to be decided, according to a source.

The Community source, told TheNewspad that most of the youths the suspended Enogie who recently returned to Evbolekpen from his trip in the United Kingdom, turned down his request.

The source also said the embattled Obanosa has recuse himself from Evbolekpen elders Chamber known as Ogua’edion after the decision by Oba Ewuare.
