Woman arrested for attempted murder of stepdaughter in video

 

Police have identified and arrested a woman, Ihsanatu Shaaibu for causing injury to her stepdaughter in a viral video on social media.

The Force spokesman, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement, alleged that Shaaibu physically abused her 5-year-old stepdaughter, Fa’iza Bala in a viral video.

The police spokesman shared photograph of the suspect who was arrested on Thursday and attached along with the statement, which is yet to reveal the identity of the second suspect.

He also assured that the Nigeria police will prosecute the suspect as soon as investigations are concluded and assured that members of the public will be kept abreast of the proceedings.

Earlier on Thursday, Magistrate court 1, Ogba in Lagos State, remanded a private school teacher, Stella Nwadigo, at the Kirikiri Correctional facility.

The teacher who physically assaulting a three-year-old pupil of Christ-Mitots School, Isawo road, Ikorodu, Lagos State, however pleaded not guilty to the charge in court.

The 45-year-old accused was arrested on Wednesday and docked in court the following day by the Nigeria police, Lagos State Command.

She was caught in a disturbing footage, repeatedly hitting the pupil, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation.
