Violent protest in FUTO over killing of student accused of stealing

A violent protest has erupted the Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri in Imo State, following the murder of a yet to be identified male student of the institution.

 

It was gathered that the victim, was accused of stealing the sum of N13,000 cash, was allegedly abducted, paraded and tortured to death by persons suspected to be members of Man O’ War.

 

The incident sparked a spontaneous reaction by aggrieved students who burnt the building where the student was brutally murdered by the group.

 

The Management of Federal University of Technology (FUTO), has disbanded Man O’ War association indefinitely, following indefinitely following similar events that sparked widespread unrest among students.

 

A viral video of of the violence protest, shows a building on FUTO Campus going up in flames after angry students threw caution to the wind and set a building on fire.

 

Riot Security operatives have been deployed to the Campus to prevent the crisis from drifting as a stopgap measure to save the heinous crime from drifting into chaos.

 

The Management of the institution has called for calm as investigation into the incident as begun arising from widespread reactions among students, alumni, and other Nigerians.
