Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has knocked some Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS officers behind class discrimination during passports processing, leading to time wastage.
He accused the officers of wasting the precious time of passport applicants during his unscheduled visit to the passport office in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The minister who was captured in a viral video lashing out on the officials, expressed displeasure over poor attitude to work, while accusing them of not been innovative in terms of service delivery.
Tunji-Ojo queried, “The essence here is division or Labour. She is doing enrolling, you are doing capturing. So, why must you wait untill your enrol everybody before you do capturing”.
According to him, “Somebody can come here and you do the enrollment, and you do the capturing. You can’t wait untill your enrol everybody before your do capturing.
“You are waisting peoples precious time. Time is money. Time is expensive. It’s unacceptable. People are in the queue.
“The one that you said is for the masses is there. And people are already there. And they are there and they are doing capturing. And this place VIPs. Are Nigerians not VIPs?
“So, because it’s for VIPs and children now, so you people will just be taking Air-conditioner and be chopping life while Nigerians are waiting downstairs. It’s unacceptable.
“When you wear this uniform, you wear the uniform or sacrifice. When you wear this uniform, you wear the uniform or service.
‘You are here to work for the people. I am impressed with this. I can’t get here and not see people. How many times do you get VIPs? Not everyday. Not at all times. What you tell me cannot add up”, according to Tunji-Ojo.
