Umahi to Obi: ‘We must endorse Tinubu’ for 2027

The MInister of Works, David Umahi on Wednesday called on South East leaders, particularly former Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi to join him in endorsing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 general elections irrespective of their political affiliations

as a matter of necessity.

His comment comes hours after Obi took a swipe at President Tinubu over the worsening security crisis in some parts of Nigeria while frolicking in far away France.

The 2023 LP Presidential Candidate had said in a post shared via his official X handle on Wednesday, called on the President to urgently return to Country to address the security situation crisis, particularly in Plateau and Benue States.

63-year-old Obi said, “Mr President, domestic problems beckon. I am compelled at this time in our lives as a nation to call on our retreating President’s attention to the security challenges at home, which entail that he immediately suspend his ongoing retreat in a foreign land and come home to address the overwhelming security situation across the Country”.

But the MInister spoke during the flag-off for the construction of 118.8 kilometers federal government Super Highway project crisscrossing South, Central and Northern part of Nigeria on Wednesday in Ebonyi State, South East.

He appealed to Nigerians from South eastern region of Nigeria not to allow anyone or groups to fight against the administration of President Bola in order to attract the positive benefits to the region.

“Nobody was ever appointed Minister of Works before. We didn’t have federal projects. But today, the President is working”, he said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has re-united the the Country”.

“And South East people have no course to not to stand with the President. His Eight years is for our benefit. Don’t join those that want to push us to fight and they will reap the benefit.

“During the last EndSARS, both here (Nigeria) and oversea, we said we are wiser now. We are working with the Governors irrespective of party affiliation; For the entire South East and their leaders, including my brother, His Excellency, Peter Obi. We must as a matter of necessity come together and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Eight years”, Umahi said.

In his remarks, President Bola Tinubu, appreciated the people of South East for keeping fate with his government at the event.

Represented by Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the President, noted that His renewed Hope Agenda is begining to take root in all parts of Nigeria.
