Two football-bound teenagers abducted, rescued in Ogun

A Police patrol team from the Oru Division in Ogun State have rescued two teenagers, Chindalu Umadi and Udeba David around 0820 hours on September 3rd 2023 in Ojo Local government, Lagos State.

Umadi and David whose ages were given as 17 and 16, were abducted while on their way to play a football match by two unknown individuals into a Toyota Saloon car.

Spokesperson for the Police Command in Ogun State, SP. Omolola Odutola in a statement on Sunday said the hostages were subsequently taken to the police station.

She explained that the victims have no recollection of what happened during their captivity until they were discovered abandoned near a riverside in Oru Ijebu.

The teenagers told the Divisional Police Officer of Oru Ijebu, CSP Mathew Ediae during an interview that “they were on their way to play football when they were forcibly taken”, according to the statement.

SP Odutola also stated that the teenagers parents who have been searching for their Children since they were taken into captivity, will contacted by the DPO for identification and unification.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Mustapha, expressed his satisfaction with this positive outcome.

CP. Mustapha, advised parents to be vigilant, especially during the ember months which are notorious for increase in criminal activities.

He urged them to be concern of their children’s whereabouts at all times and encouraged teenagers to move in groups to minimize the risk of falling victim to such incidents.
