Troops uncover riffle fabrication factory, arrest suspect in Plateau

The Nigerian Army troops codename ‘Operation SAFE HAVEN’ have uncovered riffle fabrication factory in Plateau State.

The arms fabrication factory traced to a high ground in Pakachi Village, Mangu Local government Area of the State where a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered.

A significant number of illicit firearms and related equipment were recovered and one suspect apprehended, the Army said in Facebook post on Thursday February 14, 2024.

25-year-old male suspect, Mr. Tapshak Plangji believed to be involved in the illegal activities at the factory during the operation.

The statement also revealed that the alleged owner of the facility, Mr. Nuhu Meshack, is currently at large and efforts are underway to bring him to justice.

5 AK 47 Rifles, 4 AK 47 Magazines, 11 Rounds of 7.62mm Ammunition and 5 Rounds of 9mm Ammunition
as well as 21 Dane guns were recovered from the facility.

Other items are 4 Revolver Rifles, 11 Pistols with 5 Magazines, 17 Gun Barrels, 6 Rounds of 0.44 Inch Ammunition, in addition to a Carbide Cylinder with Accessories and 3 Saws.

L12 filing machines, 4 hammers 6 manual drilling machines, 2 electrically operated filing Machines, 2 G-Clamps, one spray machine, and a Tiger Generator set as well as assorted drilling Irons were also seized by troops.

The statement explained that the suspect, Mr. Plangji, was nabbed, while the recovered rifles and other items, are in the custody of the troops for further investigation.
