President Bola Tinubu has narrated how his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria nearly abandon his dinner in their kitchen to watch Super Falcons fight their way to victory at the Women African Cup of Nations final on Saturday July 26th 2025.
He dropped the hint while sharing his lighthearted moment from their 2024 WAFCON final match with the female Moroccan team viewing experience on Monday during a reception at the Villa in honour of Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
“Honestly, I didn’t want to watch the match. I didn’t want to have high blood pressure. But people came in and turned my TV on that channel. When it was 2-0, I got very offended and restless”, according to President Tinubu.
The President however stated that he became encouraged during the moment that drew laughter when the Super Falcons came from behind during half of the time and upturn the rally, scoring their first goal and eventually increased the rally to 3-2.
“But I was still watching with the spirit of resilience, determination, and courage. And after that penalty, my strength was lifted, and I believe that of the nation was lifted too.
“But you almost made me angrier because your mother (the First Lady) was in the kitchen, nearly abandoning my dinner.
“She doesn’t watch the game except when the girls are playing. And at the end of the final whistle, it was joy all over the Country,” he said.
