Gang-raped victims: Ogun police react to allegations of professional misconduct

The Nigeria police Command in Ogun State has formerly responded to allegations of

professional misconduct in handling gang-raped victim by four criminal suspects, Kalu Prosper, Oche Destiny, Adamu Paul, and Adewusi Qudus ― who have been arrested and charged to court by the police.

 

The Command’s spokesman, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi stated in a statement that the investigation of the alleged rape incident in Ijebu-Ode was conducted with the highest level of professionalism at every stage in response to a petition by titled “urgent petition to all well-meaning nigerians” by the Safer Society for Children (SSC) Foundation and the Elegant Nurses Forum Foundation and ENF against the police Force.

 

He said the Command acknowledged the petition dated March 22, 2026, and emphasized that the Nigerian judiciary is actively handling the case to ensure justice is served.

 

“The investigation of the alleged rape incident in Ijebu-Ode was conducted with the highest level of professionalism at every stage”, according to the statement, which noted that “at no point was the victim compromised”.

 

The police spokesman clarified that the Command ensured that all necessary requirements for a thorough investigation, including medical examinations, evidence collection, and proper documentation, were strictly adhered to.

 

While the petitioners described the situation as the police having “failed to protect the victim, instead exposing her to further harm and humiliation,” DSP Babaseyi, noted that the Command maintains that officers acted professionally, prioritizing the victim’s safety, dignity, and rights throughout the investigation.

 

Accordingly, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo has instituted an investigation into the claims raised in the petition and assured that it remains open to verifiable facts and will act decisively if any breach of duty is established, reinforcing transparency and accountability.

 

He also urged the public to come forward with credible information to assist the investigation while highlighting the Command’s unwavering commitment to justice, victim protection, and maintaining public confidence in the Force.
