Tinubu reacts to murder of woman, six children

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sorrow over the death of prominent Kano-based businessman and national trade union leader, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President, described his passing as a major loss to the country’s business Community.

He said the influence of the late Abdulaziz went beyond Kano State, noting his contributions to commerce and national cohesion across Nigeria.

Abdulaziz, who died over the weekend in Kano, was the National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and a key figure in several commerce-related unions.

He was also the founder of the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), through which he advocated national unity and patriotism.

President Tinubu acknowledged the support he received from the late business leader during the 2023 presidential campaigns and commended his consistent commitment to peaceful coexistence and national development.

He extended his condolences to the Kano business community, the people of the State and the Kano State Government over the loss.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has condemned the killing of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in Chiranci community, Kano State, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.

He commended the Nigeria Police Force for the swift arrest of the principal suspects and directed security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of those responsible.

The President also sympathised with the bereaved family, praying for comfort and justice in the aftermath of the tragedy.
