Three policemen attached to the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State have been killed by suspected kidnappers.

They operatives were shot dead in the early hours of Thursday during a gun duel with the criminals in Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local government Area of the State.

Investigation revealed that one of the slain gallant officers succeeded in killing two members of the criminals gang before he gave up the ghost.

One of the brave policemen identified as officer Marcus who died in the encounter with the kidnappers, led the operation, according to security report.

TheNewspad reports that bodies of the slain policemen and two suspected kidnappers have been evacuated and deposited in a morgue for preservation.

A senior police officer who craved for anonymity, told our Correspondent that “three policemen died in the attack that occurred in Igarra.

“Two of the kidnapers were shot dead, including one of them who sustained serious injury were brought to police headquarters this evening”, the policeman said.

Speaking in a telephone interview, the spokesman of the Police Command, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, did not deny the incident.

He said, “I got your message. I will discuss it with the Commissioner of police and get back to you”, he said.

Recall that Igarra-Auchi-Ibilo express roads have been lately become a den of kidnappers.
