Six-term lawmaker dumps PDP in Osun

A six-term lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, Oluwole Oke has dumped Peoples Democratic Party, raising fresh concerns about Nigeria’s main opposition party.

The notification is contained in a letter dated April 16, 2025 and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Oke revealed in his letter that he decided to leave the PDP after consulting with his political associates, friends, and family members.

Part of the letter reads, “I wish to formally notify you that I am designing my membership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect”.

The lawmaker rode on the wings of PDP, which fielded him into elective positions six times at various levels after joining the party in 1998.

A viral footage of the the lawmaker posted on social media has engaged Nigerians who have predicted that he has perfected plans to join the All Progressives Congress in Osun State.
