Unknown armed men have gun down a Point of Sale, PoS operator, identified as Raphael Eletanye at Upper Uwa street area in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State last Saturday.
Spokesperson of the Nigeria police Command in Edo State, ASP Eno Ikoedem said the hoodlums operating in an unregistered white mini-bus, behind the attack also cart away an undisclosed cash sum from the victim on Saturday night.
The Divisional Police Officer at Esigie Division responded to a distress call at 9:50p.m, immediately mobilized to the crime scene and took the 38-year-old victim to an undisclosed hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was shot on the thigh before the assailants carted away an unspecified amount of cash”, according to the statement, which noted that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has “ordered a thorough investigation into the incident”.
The statement also assured that efforts are in top gear to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, while members of the public with useful information are advised to contact the Command through our 24/7 active emergency numbers.
